Dominik Mysterio received a lot of attention since his in-ring debut at SummerSlam last year. He is set to make a big name for himself, but his father wants to make sure that he is trained correctly.

Not About Wrestling recently spoke to Rey Mysterio when his son’s training came up. Mr. 6-1-9 said that he doesn’t tell Dominik that he did a good job. He tells him that he can be better. This old-school encouragement is something that stuck with Mysterio and he wants his son to learn the pro wrestling business in this way.

“I still tap into the old school mentality roots, where I don’t praise him for doing something good. I always tell him you can do so much better, and I think that is the key to perfecting certain things in life. In this case, in this sport which is eventually in time gonna make him better, but I am pretty rough on Dominick, and I love it too. I can’t be easy on him.”

There are many ways to learn the ropes in pro wrestling. When your father is as respected as Rey Mysterio it’s probably best simply listen. We’ll have to see what’s next for Dominik Mysterio in WWE, but he is certainly on his way to accomplish big things and carry on his family’s name.
