Christian returned to action during the 2021 Royal Rumble match. He was working on that return for a while, but the company didn’t tell him about his placement in the big match until the last minute.

While on WWE The Bump, Christian said that he started thinking about return to the ring when he did that short match last summer. That wasn’t going to be the way his career ended. Edge also knew that he was working hard to get medically cleared.

In the end, WWE didn’t tell him about it until 7:30 PM on the Friday night before the Royal Rumble match. Christian was more than ready which is why they were able to present such an organic reaction in the ring,

“I found out at 7:30 on Friday night,” he replied. “Yeah. It was kind of a whirlwind from there. I was nervous when I got the call. I was like, ‘Where’s my gear? Where’re my tights and my boots?’ Once I pieced those things together, there was no time to think. There was so much I had to do to prepare for Saturday before going to the arena on Sunday. For not stepping into the ring for seven years, there were no nerves. I was like, ‘This is what I was born to do.’”

Edge was very happy for Christian. We previously reported that Christian said that his return might have meant more to Edge than it did for him. It was certainly a huge moment for all the fans who would love to see a return of the Peep Show and everything that comes with it.
