WWE NXT might be forced to move from their Wednesday night timeslot very soon. NBC Sports Network is closing in 2021. No firm date was given as to when they are closing down completely, but it is happening.

The NHL’s Wednesday night double-header games are likely to cause NXT a problem. They will probably land on the USA Network, and their season might start as NXT’s contract expires.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE NXT’s contract expires in October. This could be a very interesting situation as we approach that date.

“Here’s another part, the NXT contract ends with the television, it ends in October. The NHL, if they re-sign with NBC would start a regular season would start in October, is that when it would normally start unlike this year when it was all freaked up. Yeah, usually around October.”

It was noted that if USA Network decides to keep NXT then they might be forced to move. NXT gets far more viewers than the NHL, but those games could get an even larger audience if they are on the USA Network instead of NBC Sports Network.

This is a very new situation, but we will continue monitoring everything as it unfolds right here at Ringside News.
