WWE fans haven’t been able to attend live events for almost a year at this point. The company controls the fan reactions in the ThunderDome, and this has frustrated some talent. It has also made giving promos a bit easier; because nobody is yelling: “WHAT?!” after every single line.

Mick Foley recent spoke up on Twitter about fans’ proclivity to hurl out “WHAT?!” chants whenever they want to. It can mess with a performer’s flow and make giving that promo incredibly difficult. He also made a baseball reference while making his point.

It can be very difficult for any wrestler to find their voice amidst a chorus of “what” chants – it’s like going up to bat with the count starting at 0-2. While it’s still POSSIBLE to hit a promo out of the park, those annoying chants make it a hell of a lot less likely.

Live fans will return at WrestleMania 37, and there could be a lot of pent up chants at the event. It’s been a long time since fans hijacked a show with a chorus of chanting. This could be a very interesting two-night WrestleMania event.
