The 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic just got quite an addition. It also stemmed from an intense rivalry.

Ashante “Thee” Adonis was pulled from the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic after he was injured by Karrion Kross in their match. This opened up a spot in the tournament for Timothy Thatcher’s partner.

After their Fight Pit match, Tommaso Ciampa approached Timothy Thatcher. He asked why Thatcher didn’t break his leg when he could have. “Respect,” is what Thatcher said in reply.

“I hear there’s an opening in the Dusty Cup,” Tommaso Ciampa called out to Thatcher as he walked away. This caused Thatcher to stop for a moment.

Later on, William Regal seemingly confirmed that Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher will team with each other in the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Well, @NXTCiampa is partially correct. There WAS an opening for the #DustyClassic, but it seems you two have just filled that vacancy… good luck gentlemen. #WWENXT

We will have to see how the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic turns out. Ciampa and Thatcher could make quite a formidable team.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
