WWE has several legends in their phonebook who they could call for a return match. Steve Austin is not one of them because his bumping days are done.
In a recent interview with Fox Sports, Steve Austin confirmed that he will never wrestle again. It is a fun thought, but he’s through giving out stunners.
Austin was asked if it is nice having discussions with Superstars on Straight Up With Steve Austin and Broken Skull Sessions to keep him connected to the business.
Man, 100 percent. ‘Cause, you know, I’m still the biggest fan of the business that I was when I was seven years old changing the channels and stumbled across it; and then got the chance to learn it and have a pretty good run.
So, I don’t want to do nothing else in the ring. I’m done. I’ve retired. Everybody knows that. I don’t need to go out there and drop anybody on a stack of dimes and give them stunners. Once in a year, once every two years, whatever. So, yes. This connection makes sense.
Kevin Owens requested to use the stunner, and Austin gladly obliged. At least someone will be dishing out stunners in WWE, because “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will never wrestle again.
Austin’s neck injuries are the reason he retired from the ring. He has also suffered several knee injuries and other bumps and bruises along the way. He gave his body to pro wrestling, and Austin became a legend for it; and that’s the bottom line.
