AEW seems close to booking Shaquille O’Neal in some kind of a match. It’s unclear if Shaq will be competing, but the door is still wide open for him to come in for a special appearance of some kind.

While speaking to Fightful, Nick Jackson said he got “goosebumps” the first time he stood next to Shaq. His childhood Lakers fandom came up, and it was a very crazy experience for him.

“I got goosebumps seeing him stand up for me and Matt – as soon as we got backstage – and gave us a standing ovation after our FTR match. The ten-year-old me would have cried his eyes out. I’m a massive NBA fan, so obviously Shaq is a huge part of that and for him to enjoy a match that we had, that was so crazy to me.”

Matt Jackson also said that Shaq’s “genuinely the largest person I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

The were then asked if an NBA crossover was on their mind when they discovered that AEW Dynamite would air on TNT. Matt Jackson had to admit that the thought came to their minds instantly.

“Oh, right away! That was literally the first thing I thought of because I watch TNT religiously.”

The idea for an AEW crossover with the NBA happened sooner than some thought. The NBA was promoting AEW Dynamite’s debut during their games which helped in the campaign to spread awareness for the new company.

Ironically, AEW Dynamite will be on late tonight for their Holiday Bash episode because of an NBA game. They might have to rearrange their schedule every now and then, but AEW is also taking full advantage of the opportunities that WarnerMedia is providing them.
