Jon Moxley won the IWGP United States Title from Lance Archer at Wrestle Kingdom 14. Moxley previously had to relinquish that title when he could not defend it due to weather issues. NJPW has not stripped Moxley of his title yet.

KENTA really wants to face Moxley, and he is first in line. That match with Moxley hasn’t been able to happen yet, so New Japan is having to make things work.

The former Hideo Itami will now defend his right to challenge for Moxley’s IWGP United States Title at Wrestle Kingdom 15. He will have quite a tough opponent.

NJPW announced that KENTA vs Juice Robinson will be a #1 contender’s match for the IWGP United States title. Moxley will theoretically face the winner of that match

This match will hopefully prolong Moxley’s next title defense for long enough that he will be able to get back and defend his title soon.
