WWE is always looking for a big star they can sign to beef up their roster. It doesn’t matter how full their locker room already is. The company had their eye on Rush and Dragon Lee, but those two might not be leaving ROH now.

ROH Final Battle was a night full of newsworthy action. Danhausen won an ROH contract. Both Rush and Dragon Lee also retained the World Title and TV Title respectively.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how WWE wanted both Rush and Dragon Lee, but AEW hadn’t made a move to sign them. Their wins at Final Battle gives the impression that neither of them are going anywhere.

“Dragon Lee retained his title and Rush retained his title. So, the big question was like, ‘are those guys staying or going?’ If those two guys would have lost it would be like ‘they’re going to WWE.’ Or, well probably WWE because I haven’t heard anything from AEW’s side about either of them, but obviously WWE wanted both of them last year and this year. So, I guess they’re gonna stay because they both retained.”

It appears that Rush and Dragon Lee will stick around ROH. Their successful title defenses at Final Battle certainly gave off that impression. Until the dotted line is signed on the contract nothing is a done deal.

We’ll just have to see what happens next in this situation. Apparently, AEW wasn’t throwing their hat in the ring for those two. WWE was interested, but it’s unlikely they’ll get them this time around.
