Sting’s AEW debut made tons of fans switch over to TNT during Winter Is Coming. This was a deal that took some time to piece together, but AEW was able to sign The Icon to a multi-year contract.
Matt Jackson revealed on the Living The Gimmick podcast’s Patreon account that Sting’s debut was a secret that they held onto for a very long time. It was difficult to keep such a secret, and he couldn’t wait for the world to know that Sting is All Elite.
“This is something that we’ve been sitting on for a little while and it was just one of those things where it’s a secret and you’re living with it. It’s like ‘can we just do it so people can see it?'”
Jackson also spoke about how he saw all of the AEW stars “mark out” when they saw Sting appear from the trailer he was hiding in all day. You can click here for more information on that huge surprise or talents.
Sting’s AEW debut was a shocking moment for a lot of people. It certainly gave AEW an added boost after that huge debut at Winter Is Coming. The Stinger will be on Dynamite next week to speak his mind. The pro wrestling world will be paying close attention to what he will say.
