Chris Jericho departed from WWE, and that didn’t leave the best taste in Vince McMahon’s mouth. Y2J was immediately taken out of WWE’s opening intro video package, and his name hasn’t been mentioned since. The name of his popular move isn’t to be spoken either.

Le Champion used the Codebreaker in WWE, and all over. Plenty of other wrestlers use that move, but it’s not called the Codebreaker in WWE.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the term “Codebreaker” is still banned. That is why the announce team doesn’t say it during commentary. This was called to attention while recapping RAW from this week as Asuka hit that forbidden move.

Asuka made a hot tag and hit a codebreaker, which, by the way, is a term the announcers are banned from using.

WWE doesn’t drop references to wrestlers from outside companies for a reason. They don’t want to make it appear that they are promoting or endorsing those people. It is still very interesting that they dropped a name like the Codebreaker that was used in WWE for so long.
