WWE owned the Halloween Havoc name, but they never used it. NXT is dusting off the old intellectual property, and Eric Bischoff is all for it.

During 83 Weeks, Bischoff opened up about what he thinks about WWE going back to the nostalgia well. He is all for it because he realizes how much fans love seeing things from the past.

“I think it’s great. Wrestling fans have a long memory and they love the legacy and the nostalgia and the history. And I think the fact that WWE is bringing back Halloween Havoc in whatever version is number one, paying homage to a great pay-per-view series. Halloween Havoc went on to become, at least in my opinion, one of the more important pay-per-views of the year for WCW. So, I think it’s great, and hopefully, it’ll be a tradition that continues long into the future.”

It’s unclear why WWE never used the Halloween Havoc name before. They are letting NXT take the concept, and we’ll have to see if it becomes an annual event. WWE is paying homage to the past, but they are also stacking a show against their competition on TNT.
