Jim Cornette has not kept his opinions about AEW a very close secret over the past year. He railed the company on several occasions, but he’s just speaking his mind and holding nothing back.

Chris Jericho recently told Jim Cornette that AEW might hire him as a consultant if he’d quit talking so much trash about them. Cornette said he wouldn’t take the job if it was offered to him.

During a recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, he spoke about AEW and revealed a conversation he had with Tony Khan two years ago, prior to AEW’s launch. He wouldn’t pull any punches from Khan then, and it would be the same now.

“The first time I ever spoke to him on the phone? I said ‘Tony [Khan], I’m the only one it’ll tell you the truth because I don’t want a job. That was two years ago, I was 57, now I’m 59. That’s almost 60.”

“I was not going to be getting on airplanes and flying around” Cornette continued. “Or driving around to a wrestling promotion’s events that were being held all over the country. That’s regardless who it was, I’m f*cking not interested in that.”

“Am I going to stay home and write my thoughts down via email? Or phone them in and take a check for it? Well, if it was a goddamn real promotion Pinocchio? Absolutely, if there was a way I could help. You couldn’t do anything with this show, even if you were on the f*cking ground there. Unless the first thing was fire half the f*cking roster and start over.”

Jim Cornette and AEW are pretty far apart when it comes to philosophy. AEW star Joey Janela certainly doesn’t have the best feelings about him. We’ll have to see if they can mend things because you never know what can happen in pro wrestling.
