Roman Reigns’ return to WWE made a lot of fans very happy because the company was finally presenting him as a heel. That wasn’t The Tribal Chief’s intention.

While speaking to CBS Sports, Roman Reigns said that he isn’t a heel or a babyface. He is simply presenting his own story to the WWE Universe. Some might not look at it that way, but he is a character in an angle with choices which could be both perceived as both good and bad ones.

“A lot of people want to say, ‘Oh, he’s a heel.’ And, ‘Oh, he was a babyface,” and this and that. I try not to look at it as that. I try to look at it as this being a character in a storyline and he has choices like anyone else.”

“Some of his choices are going to be perceived as good, some of them are going to be perceived as bad and some of them people won’t understand because they won’t understand where he’s coming from.”

Roman Reigns is in a position in WWE where he could get cheered for everything that he does. Fans in 2020 are different and some don’t subscribe to the former traditions of babyface/heel like previous generations.

We’ll have to see where WWE takes this storyline from this point on, but The Tribal Chief wanted to make it clear that he’s not all bad.
