Chris Jericho celebrated 30 years in pro wrestling this week. The night was filled with tributes to Le Champion. That included very unexpected cameo from Tanahashi. Jericho had a lot more to do with this week’s episode than just performing in the main event match.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about AEW Dynamite’s special episode. He noted that Chris Jericho produced a lot of the night. That is why it felt so personal for Jericho. He’ll still be a heel next week with the Inner Circle, but it worked for a night of tributes.

“You know Jericho produced a lot of it. I liked that. It felt like a strong show, it felt like a special show, but you know Jericho was a total babyface on the show which he probably should have been just because of the nature of what it is and everything, but he’s going to go back to being a heel with the Inner Circle and everything like next week.”

Chris Jericho also probably had an opportunity to do things during AEW Dynamite this week that he always wanted to. That likely included a nod to Saturday Night Live at the end of the show. It was a special episode, and they did a good job honoring the Million Viewer Man even though AEW only had access to the last year of footage from his legendary career.
