Ember Moon revealed herself as the mystery returning champion from NXT during TakeOver: 31. This was a big moment for her, but the Shenom was very nervous about how she would be received.
Moon also didn’t know what was booked to happen directly before her return. Toni Storm appeared on the screen and put Io Shirai on notice. This was directly followed by Ember Moon’s return.
The Shenom spoke to Sports Illustrated where she revealed how nervous she was and how nobody clued her into the fact that she would be the second returning Superstar in a row during the same segment.
“I was nervous and I wasn’t certain how I would be received. I didn’t even know Toni Storm was popping up on the monitor right before me. She’s stunning in the ring, and I want to wrestle her, too.”
My nerves kept building as I was walking out to the stage. All I could think was, ‘Crap, did I even shut the visor to the helmet?’ If you look quickly, I grab my helmet and checked. Then I took off the helmet, and it was an outstanding, memorable moment. I think it may have broke the internet for a hot minute. It reminded me that NXT is the place where I’m meant to be. I couldn’t ask for a better team to support me, and it was so amazing to be there on the first night of the Capitol Wrestling Center.”
We’re not sure what NXT has in store for Ember Moon next. She is set to kick off this week’s episode of the black and gold brand’s show. Ember Moon had a nice run of vignettes to hype her return as well. Hopefully, this will start a new chapter in the former NXT Women’s Champion’s career.
