AEW’s backstage environment has been a popular topic of conversation since opening their doors. There is an absence of writers coming up with scripted promos and dictating everything that happens on screen. Their stars get to do their own thing and this is a much more chill setting for Thunder Rosa.

The NWA Women’s World Champion has made a couple appearance for AEW, and she is set to wrestle on Dynamite again. There is no contract and she’s on a per-night deal. This is great exposure for the NWA as they approach new weekly pay-per-view program.

While speaking with Wrestling Inc, Thunder Rosa called the backstage environment in AEW “chill.” She then provided some comparison to how Lucha Underground worked as they had writers planning everything out. Things are much different in AEW, and Rosa seemed impressed about how those stars are encouraged to express their creativity.

“It’s very chill. It’s very different from all the companies that I worked before. In Lucha Underground, we had like five different writers, and here, everybody’s kind of like doing their own stories. [It’s] not like there’s a writer, here’s the story, this is what you need to do, this is what you need to convey, and that’s it. Here is completely different.”

“So, I think here, people are encouraged to use their creativity and pitch it in and see what you can do. And I think that’s a great skill for anybody to have, because if you want to do something different or you want to create your own company, you know how to book stuff, you know how to write the stories and things that will make sense for you or for the fan. So, I think that’s pretty cool.”

You can never say never about Thunder Rosa returning to AEW on a much more frequent basis down the line. She is currently signed with the NWA, and she is also contracted for three more MMA fights with Combate Americas. Thunder Rosa certainly seemed to enjoy her time with AEW so far and they have provided her with much greater spotlight than WWE who wanted her to tryout for a referee role.
