AEW is not afraid to slide in a clever line directed at their juggernaut competition that is WWE. They did so as recently as this week’s Dynamite as Miro said that they can take that brass ring and shove it up their ass. Chris Jericho said he fed that line to Miro and the former Rusev was shocked that was permitted on AEW programming.

WWE also took a shot at AEW this week during SmackDown. Click here for our full exclusive about Vince McMahon’s intentions behind that line.

During his Saturday Night Special, Chris Jericho ensured fans that AEW isn’t “constantly bashing anybody else.” Miro’s situation obviously meant that he was taking aim at WWE, but the history had to be acknowledged.

“This is not a place that’s constantly bashing anybody else. I mean, obviously, when you come from another company — when you come from WWE, you have to acknowledge the fact that you came from there. Do you know what I mean? You have to acknowledge the fact that there’s a history there. But other than that, you say your piece and you move on. So I think it’s great to have him. I’ve always been a fan of his and I think he’s another guy for some reason, whatever reason, kind of fell through the cracks there that they’re going to regret letting go. But we got him and we’re excited.”

It seems that AEW takes a lot of opportunities to insert jabs at WWE in more instances than when there is history in the situation. Kip Sabian’s line about his Twitch stream during All Out is perfect example of that.

We’ll have to continue listening closely and pay attention for that next WWE line in AEW programming. Odds are it will be pretty hard to ignore.
