Update: This exclusive was proven to be true as Carmella made her return to SmackDown. If you want another Ringside News exclusive that was true check out our article about WrestleMania 37’s location which has been confirmed as accurate.

Original: WWE can capture someone’s interest in a split second if they want to. A very short vignette on SmackDown last week caused fans to wonder what’s going on. Now we know, but you can never be too sure in WWE.

If you missed the mysterious promo, you can check it out below. A Superstar in heels was seen for a second or two, but their identity wasn’t revealed. It was a quick video, but it caused fans to throw out plenty of guesses.

Chelsea Green tweeted out in response to fans thinking that she is both the SmackDown mystery woman and a member of Retribution. We have been told that Green is not the new woman on the blue brand, and it’s also nobody new at all.

Ringside News has learned that word going around backstage in WWE is that Carmella is that mystery Superstar. We can’t wait to dive into the comments for this article.

A tenured writer with very close knowledge of this situation told us that nothing is for sure anymore. “It can always be a swerve, even to us behind the scenes” but the impression given is that the Princess of Staten Island is returning and that vignette is for her.

Carmella hasn’t been seen much at all on WWE television since the pandemic started. Her last match was the Money In The Bank ladder match in May.

She has made no secret that she is ready for return to action. Paul Heyman also name dropped her during his promo on SmackDown, and he usually doesn’t do anything by accident.

It stands to reason that this new vignette will also come with a repackaging for Carmella. You can also never rule out the possibility of Vince McMahon rejecting the next phase of this idea and then abandoning it all together as he did with Mustafa Ali’s hacker angle.

A lot of fans thought that Carmella might be a part of Retribution. She is apparently returning, but the former SmackDown Women’s Champion is coming back in heels and not a ski mask.
