Renee Young is no longer with WWE. She came to the realization that she needed to leave during a time when she received two terrible pieces of information: her show was cancelled, and she had COVID-19.

Young already revealed how upset WWE was about her revealing a positive COVID-19 test. They don’t want anyone talking about that very real subject.

Sports Illustrated Media Podcast recently spoke to Young where she went into detail about what was the final straw before she was certain that a WWE exit was coming. She knew that Talking Smack was coming back, but it wouldn’t have been the same without Daniel Bryan and Mike Mansury. Since that would have been a step back for her, Young figured that she needed to stop spinning her wheels with WWE.

“I’m at home, I get my diagnosis, that same day I found out that Backstage gets cancelled. But it was really with Backstage being cancelled that I was like, ‘What am I doing? I’m not really doing anything anymore and my skillset of being a host … there’s just nowhere for me to do it anymore. Even with Talking Smack coming back, I had heard the rumblings that Talking Smack was making its way back, I was planning on perhaps doing that. But I was like, ‘You know what? I feel like I’m taking steps backward. I’m sorta spinning my wheels to go back and do a show. To not be doing it with Daniel Bryan. To not be doing it with [former WWE producer and VP of Television Production] Mike Mansury, who also is no longer with WWE. But that was sort of the magic of what that show was to me.”

Renee Young has as 90-day non-compete clause with WWE. She could eventually end up on AEW television, or working for any other pro wrestling company. That might not be what she wants to do.

Young is suited to host all kinds of shows and discuss any variety of subjects. If someone could arrange a pro wrestling meets NHL cooking show then that would be right up her alley.
