It’s always great to hear from some of the more unique figures in professional wrestling, if only because they almost always have some fascinating stories to tell.

AEW president Tony Khan falls into that category, with the man behind All Elite Wrestling continuing to provide fans with a viable alternative to WWE each and every Wednesday night.

On social media last night, Khan responded to a light-hearted tweet from CM Punk where he suggested a few names that should go head to head with Cody for the TNT Championship.

Duly noted. Fun facts: I saw you on a house show in Champaign on Super Bowl Sunday 13.5 years ago with Domino and Cherry (and Deuce). Also, New Jack was really really nice to me when I was a 13 year old kid visiting Philadelphia. My dad loved New Jack.

While Khan’s father may have loved New Jack, it’s safe to say that feeling didn’t resonate across the entire pro wrestling landscape. On the other hand, it’s pretty cool to think that, almost 14 years on from seeing him at a house show, Khan is able to converse with Punk in this way.

The lingering query, of course, continues to be whether or not Punk will ever compete inside a squared circle again.
