Rey Mysterio is working without contract with WWE. This is a unique situation because he is still in a huge program on RAW with Seth Rollins. His son Dominik is a part of the angle which is also a huge incentive for Mysterio to stick around.

WWE obviously wants to re-sign Mysterio to another contract. Vince McMahon doesn’t want to give him the raise he requested.

During Wrestling Observer Radio (transcription by Ringside News), Dave Meltzer explained that this contract situation with Mysterio isn’t a new issue. It is just now coming out, but Mysterio has apparently been working without a contract for months.

They’ve been using him on television for months, this didn’t just happen this week. Now it’s out, yeah, but I think his contract expired months ago. They worked under the basically ‘okay I’ll work out this eye program,’ you know the original eye program when they took his eye out originally, I remember saying that if they don’t reach a deal that’l him being written off, but since they brought him back that’s when the whole thing that ‘my eye may be done.’ I guess it was completely forgotten and I guess they thought he would sign, and then he didn’t sign.

Mysterio’s eye was infected and we were getting all those WWE reports about him being in “critical condition.” It is said that the thought during that time was to write Mysterio off television. He returned, and now we are in our current situation.

We’ll have to see if Rey Mysterio signs a new contract with WWE. Vince McMahon might be prepared to blind Mr. 6-1-9 if he doesn’t sign on the dotted line.
