Wade Barrett hasn’t wrestled in quite a while and most fans consider that part of his career over. You can also never say never in WWE.

Barrett had the opportunity to participate in WrestleMania 36 this year in a return of the Nexus. That angle had to be dropped when the entire event plans changed, but WWE did extend the invitation. Barrett said that he already turned them down though.

As he continued speaking to Wrestling Inc, Barrett didn’t close the door on an in-ring return. He’s certainly not retired “in any sense of the word.”

“I am not retired in any sense of the word, in terms of pro wrestling. I love doing commentary, and I love working with NWA, as that’s been a goal of mine, for a long time,” said Bennett. “I started off in FCW working for Dusty Rhodes and being the color commentator down there in 2008 to 2009, and I’ve always loved it, ever since. So, I’m really enjoying working with NWA on that. Obviously, things are shut down at the moment, and I don’t know when it’s all coming back. But at some point, it will kick off again.

“In terms of in-ring, maybe at some point; if the right place, the right time, the right offer, comes in. Then, I can see myself dusting off the boots…I might need some new trunks, as they might have gotten thrown out, but I still have the boots.”

A return to pro wrestling would have to wait regardless of what Barrett had planned for this year. It seems like he hasn’t given up the idea of lacing up his boots once again. At this stage in his career he’s not doing anything that he doesn’t really want to do first.
