Pro wrestling and ownership of intellectual property go hand in hand nowadays. If helps to make money off something if you own the copyright.

Brian Cage made his AEW debut at Double Or Nothing. Now he is locking down his wrestling name and his nickname. PW Insider reports that Cage filed copyrights on “Brian Cage” and “Swolverine.”

It’s remarkable that Brian Cage didn’t own those names already. He’s been using both of them for years, and he put them on merchandise as well. Now he officially owns the names.

Cage registered both trademarks for merchandise and wrestling related entertainment purposes. AEW will likely start pumping out Swolverine t-shirts very soon.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
