AEW had a lot of plans that needed to be changed due to the novel coronavirus. Apparently, they were even planning house shows.

Cody Rhodes spoke out against the idea of doing house shows. He stated they don’t work in today’s wrestling economy. According to Jim Ross, AEW was penciling some in.

While speaking to Wrestling Observer Live, Jim Ross revealed that AEW were making preliminary plans to produce house shows. COVID-19 wrecked those hopes.

“Absolutely, I think that’s the plan…I know there were some live events penciled into the schedule before the virus. You can’t get better working one night a week. Nobody, I don’t care who you are.”

Perhaps AEW will come back around to the idea of running house shows. It would be a great way to get the AEW brand out there, but it is also an added expense and strain on their resources. Let’s see if they circle back around to the idea once the coronavirus situation levels off.
