Spears appeared in a video vignette where he hosted a mock news segment. He had breaking news: Dustin Rhodes has retired.

Rhodes hasn’t really retired, but Spears had plenty of mocking words for the former Goldust. Then Spears stated that it’s a travesty that he doesn’t have a match at Double Or Nothing. He is “this close from breaking into the top 5,” but he has no match.

Then Shawn Spears “went into business” for himself. He challenged Dustin Rhodes to a match at AEW Double Or Nothing. Following the vignette, AEW was forced to make the match official because it was talked about on television.
