Former WCW Star Pleads Not Guilty After Hitting Child With Car

Former WCW star Van Hammer hit child with his car. He was also charged with felony hit and run with failure to stop in a crash involving others and serious bodily injuries, DUI with injuries to another person, and leaving the scene of an injury crash. He’s also claiming that he’s not guilty

Van Hammer appeared in court today where he pleaded not guilty according to PW Insider. He was not present in court during the hearing. He now has a pre-trial date set for June 10th in front of Florida’s Palm Beach Country Court before his trial this summer.

The court also ordered the Florida Department of Highway Safety to deliver Van Hammer’s driving records to the court.

Van Hammer, 60 was arrested on January 26th when he was charged with DUI by the Boynton Beach, Florida Police. He struck a 5-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle at the time. The young boy was taken to the hospital where he was treated for internal injuries and road rash.

Van Hammer allegedly got out of the car, stated the boy jumped out in front of him, then drove away.  Another witness followed Hammer to his home and identified him to police.  The police report noted that Hammer smelled of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyzer.

It is estimated that Van Hammer was driving 58 miles in a 35 mile an hour speed zone.
