Rob Van Dam has spoken about his concussions in the past. Vince McMahon got very serious about unprotected chair shots to the head for reason.

During his recent appearance on the Steve Austin Show podcast, RVD admitted to suffering hundreds of concussions throughout his career.

“I’ve had hundreds, seriously, hundreds, of concussions.”

“Balls Mahoney would hit me with a chair. Then ‘crack’ it would be like everything’s in slow motion. Sometimes the sound ‘goes out,’ sometimes you know everything’s spinning.”

“I had double vision, but I just couldn’t shake it off and I kept thinking well. You know, it’ll be gone tomorrow, so I’m not gonna let anybody know. The show must go on.”

RVD is with Impact Wrestling now and experiencing another run in the pro wrestling world. He says that he can still do 90% of the moves he used to be able to execute earlier in his career as well.

RVD might be lucky because there are several pro wrestlers who will never be able to work again and they didn’t suffer nearly as many shots to the skull in their career.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
