AEW runs a weekly live show so you can never count out the possibility that something unexpected might happen. This is exactly what happened this week when Tony Khan had a change of plans.

Kenny Omega and Joey Janela’s unsanctioned match on AEW Dark drew nearly 2 million views by the time AEW taped Dynamite this week. AEW President Tony Khan obviously wanted to capitalize on that popularity so he changed their plans up a little bit.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that this caused a late rewrite of Dynamite, but they were able to add Omega vs Janela to the broadcast.

For this past week’s show, they ended up doing a late rewrite as Tony Khan made the decision to add Omega vs. Joey Janela to the show coming off the reaction to their Dark match.

All Elite Wrestling still has a lot of match-ups that fans haven’t seen yet and you never know which one of those unseen matches might be a huge hit with the fans.

Tony Khan obviously wanted to present Omega vs Janela to a larger audience sooner. They told a great story and also gave Omega a crucial win as he fights to reclaim his momentum.
