Kenny Omega won the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship from Fenix in a very surprising move. Now we are waiting to see what is next.

Although Omega promised that the AAA Mega Championship is coming to AEW, it did not appear on Dynamite this week.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that AAA’s intentions for Fenix as champion was to elevate the title to an old-school NWA World Heavyweight Championship feel, but that couldn’t happen. Fenix was just too busy with other commitments to dedicate time to defending the title.

It is reported that nobody expected Kenny Omega to actually win the title off of Fenix. Even more surprising is that AAA’s immediate plans for the Mega Championship are not quite clear at this time.

There’s nothing definite about what happens next. The dates they’d like on him would be 12/1, if a planned baseball stadium show in Monterrey goes through, or 12/14, which is the Guerra de Titanes show.

Heroes Inmoraltes had a big title change as Kenny Omega picked up the AAA Mega Championship from Fenix, but they need to figure out how to follow up on this surprising victory.
