Eric Bischoff took the role as Executive Director of SmackDown Live and it appears like he is getting settled in. It might have taken some time, but he is filling a very important role backstage.

We previously reported that Vince McMahon missed WWE’s television shows this week because he was in meetings with Fox about SmackDown’s debut. Kevin Dunn was actually able to make it to the blue brand’s show as The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.

It was noted that Eric Bischoff sat alongside Bruce Prichard to produce the show backstage on the headsets. Vince McMahon might have been away from the show, but he was still in constant contact with them backstage.

Bruce Prichard was producing backstage and Eric Bischoff was on headsets and Vince was constantly on the phone with everyone during the set up of the show.

Triple H wasn’t at SmackDown this week either. With McMahon and his son-in-law gone, Kevin Dunn, Ed Koskey and Michael Hayes reportedly worked on the show to make sure the match finishes worked.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
