AEW has a lot of hype behind them, but one recent signing could turn out to be rather controversial. Orange Cassidy made quite a name for himself as a pro wrestler who doesn’t like to wrestle, but Jerry Lawler apparently isn’t a fan.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Jerry Lawler recently received an offer to work a match against Orange Cassidy, but he turned it down. It wasn’t noted exactly why he declined the match, but Lawler did say that he was shocked that Cassidy was signed to AEW.

Instead of locking up with Orange Cassidy, Jerry Lawler will be facing Mance Warner. That is quite a difference in regards to in-ring style. Where Cassidy is famous for light chops and wrestling with his hands in his pockets, Mance Warner is famous for being incredibly violent.

We previously reported that AEW has a plan to book Orange Cassidy so it hopefully won’t turn fans off, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
