WWE changed things up for Summerslam Axxess. They didn’t even call it “Axxess” as it was the “Summerslam Meet & Greet.” Apparently, this was not a very good substitute.

Brad Shepard reported on Oh, You Didn’t Know that the general feeling about the Summerslam Meet & Greet was that it didn’t really hold a candle to what WrestleMania Axxess is. This also created some disappointment within the fan base who attended the event.

“A source in WWE called this year’s Summerslam Axxess a shorter and dumbed-down version of the WrestleMania Axxess. You might remember, I also reported that Axxess wasn’t going to get good reviews from fans and this was per someone inside WWE.”

Summerslam’s Meet & Greet didn’t have a ton of hype like Axxess does. They also didn’t include as many Superstar signings and other activities for fans. WWE likes holding fan events before big pay-per-views to create bigger buzz, but it seems as if they missed the mark in a few ways with Summerslam’s version of Axxess this year.

Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
