Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of Monday Night Raw.

Tonight’s show comes to us a mere 24 hours post-SummerSlam 2019. The biggest party of the summer was a great show that didn’t actually feel like a drag in comparison to the last few big events. The main of which was the excellent bout between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar, with the former stealing the Universal Championship back. Who will be Seth’s next challenger? We should find out tonight. Bizarrely enough, Steve Austin will be on Raw tonight via Skype to talk about what he thought of the match, but hey, who’s to look a gift snake in the mouth?

Elsewhere tonight, The Miz faces Dolph Ziggler. Last night, Goldberg made short work of Ziggler, but the show-off was hard to keep down following the match. Where will Ziggler’s character go after his loss? Will The Miz beat him handily tonight? We’ll find out soon enough.

We do have a Women’s Tag Team Championship match tonight on Raw, with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defending against The Kabuki Warriors. Last night the Champions defeated The IIconics on the SummerSlam Kick-Off Show. Will they be able to extend their reign to two defences tonight? Yes. The answer is yes.

Also being teased for tonight’s show is another match with Cedric Alexander and Drew McIntyre, a 2-out-of-3 Falls match between Rey Mystero and Andrade, and new challengers for AJ Styles and The O.C. All that and more to come tonight. So be sure to stay up-to-date via the Ringside News app or by following us on Instagram and Twitter. Enjoy the show!

Monday Night Raw

Raw opens with some highlights from the SummerSlam main event, in which Seth Rollins defeated Brock Lesnar to become the Universal Champion.

Rollins makes his way to the ring in a shirt and jeans. He grimaces and holds his ribs as he lifts the title above his head. Rollins says last night he wasn’t sure he had what it took but the last few weeks have been the toughest of his career, and he still walked down to the ring and stared Brock in the eyes. He says Brock is everything they say and more; he’s a beast. The fans chant “Beast-Slayer”.

Rollins says he emptied the tank but then the fans came alive and they took him to another level. A level he couldn’t reach on his own. He says he knew he had what it took in that moment, and he remembered that he is Seth Freakin’ Rollins. And that is why he is standing here tonight, the WWE Universal Champion.

AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows, The O.C. make their way down to the ring. Styles tells Seth to hold on, he says The O.C. want to be the first to congratulate him, and they applaud together. However, Seth doesn’t have to worry about Brock anymore but he does have to worry about AJ Styles. He says he has a lot to prove, so tonight he wants to challenge Seth to a match tonight. Because he wants to prove that he’s a better Champion. Rollins says he’s always had respect for Styles, but not anymore. That being said, he doesn’t back down from a fight. So challenge accepted.

AJ extends his hand for Seth to shake, but Rollins is reluctant, so AJ makes Gallows and Anderson leave the ring, then asks for the shake again. Seth shakes and A turns to leave. Then pretends that he was about to attack Seth, just to keep him on edge. The fans are chanting “AJ Styles”.

The Street Profits are backstage. Montez Ford says tonight’s Raw is getting all the smoke. Dawkins isn’t so fired up. He says he’s dehydrated after the post-SummerSlam party. Sami Zayn walks up and says to enjoy their time here while they can but the longer they are here, the more the parasites in the crowd will suck their soul. Zayn says Seth came into WWE as the gritty architect of The Shield but now he’s a pandering fool. He says Becky Lynch, who he loves, when she became the man it was real, but now it’s manufactured. Dawkins asks if that happens to everyone and Zayn says yes. Dawkins asks if it happens to Samoa Joe, who Sami doesn’t know is behind him. Zayn says yes, that Joe came into WWE as a King Kong, beating on everyone, but last week he’s out there wondering if Roman Reigns is OK. Joe yells at Zayn and says that, since he’s just a softy, Sami has the chance to get it off his chest right now. He challenges him to a match, then shoves him into some production boxes.
