The chaos of the 24/7 Championship continues to serve as one of the highlights of WWE programming, with one of the biggest reasons for that being the continued success of Drake Maverick.
The former TNA star, and current 205 Live general manager, is one of the most intriguing characters on the main roster right now. As such, it’s quite entertaining to see him continually rise to the top – before falling short all over again.
That’s exactly what happened last night, as it wound up being Maria Kanellis who walked away with the 24/7 Championship held high above her head. As you can probably tell, Drake wasn’t all too pleased about that.
Maverick is one of those guys that you can stick in any given segment or situation, and regardless of whether or not it makes sense, he’ll be able to make it entertaining.
Whether or not that leads to him being pushed even further up the card remains to be seen, but even if that isn’t the case, we’re pretty sure that he will be able to find success doing what he’s doing – for as long as he wants to do it.
Whether or not he is ever able to consummate his marriage (in storyline, of course, or so we assume) remains to be seen, but to be perfectly honest, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Truth & Maverick’s rivalry run all the way through to WrestleMania.
Think Peter Griffin and the chicken. That’s the level of comedy we’re working with at this point.
