Eric Bischoff is the new Executive Director of WWE SmackDown Live, but he won’t be starting until later. In fact, he wasn’t even in Texas for SmackDown this week after all.

John Pollock of Post Wrestling reports: “Eric Bischoff was not at the SmackDown tapings on Tuesday night in San Antonio.”

This is interesting because there were reports that he was slated to be there. However, as Brad Shepard discussed on Oh, You Didn’t Know, Eric Bischoff is not slated to actually start his new position until later on in July and possibly into August.

“I was first told that it would be July — early August at the latest that [Eric Bischoff] would start […] that’s what I was told, but then you see Paul Heyman get so involved quickly so it’s hard to say. I need to get a more specific date on it, but at the end of the day it’s going to be after Extreme Rules.”

The bottom line is that fans shouldn’t expect to see much of a change in regards to Bischoff’s influence until after Extreme Rules. It could take some time to really get going with his new job as well so let’s just give him some time to figure things out first.
