Watch Kenny Omega Cry Over Kota Ibushi Not Joining AEW

AEW has a loaded roster of talent, but they were not able to sign Kota Ibushi. Now it seems that Ibushi is with NJPW on lifetime deal which could mean that Kenny Omega will never share the ring with him again.

Omega was emotional when Ibushi was brought up and he started to cry as he spoke during Starrcast about his longtime friend not being able to join The Elite on this exciting new journey.

Omega knew that if had asked Ibushi to join AEW he would have, but he didn’t want to keep Kota Ibushi from achieving a personal dream of his to be the top name in NJPW.

“I knew that I couldn’t ask Ibushi to sign. I couldn’t do it because I knew that it was his time and he deserved it. [Break for crying and gathering his emotions] Anyway, if I knew that if I asked for him to come here then he would and if I begged for him to come then he would, but I knew that his dream anything that we ever did was to win the IWGP Heavyweight belt.”

This was heartbreaking to see because it has been well-documented how close Omega and Ibushi are. The Golden Lovers are not going to be in AEW together, but that separation across company lines won’t stop how much Kenny Omega cares about his close friend.
