Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks – AAA Tag Team Titles
The crowd was incredibly over for this match. The Young Bucks came out looking like Elvis with white jump suits. This had a big match feel as the referee gave orders before the match as well.
Penta and Matt got started and then Fenix took a tag after Penta did some teasing. This is a brother team vs brother team and The Bucks have The Rhodes Brothers up next at Fight For The Fallen so that’s cool.
Fenix countered both the Bucks and sent them out of the ring so he could taunt a little bit. Then Fenix and Fenix traded moves and were evenly matched. They moved to the floor where they continued to dodge each other’s superkicks and then they both went for a dropkick at the same time on the outside to stall for an applause break.
“Tag team wrestling” chants broke out as they continued. Nick Jackson started taking abuse from both Lucha Bros, but he didn’t let them get a pin. Finally, Nick hit a double armdrag on Penta and Fenix when he got the tag to Matt.
Matt hit a military press slam on Fenix and a spear on Penta to get a big pop. The Bucks were going for a double team move, but Penta pulled Matt in so Nick hit him with a stomp instead. Then the Bucks nailed two more double team moved on both Pena and Fenix, an assisted hurricanrana and a leg scissors/dropkick to the face on each Lucha Bro.
Then Penta reversed The Young Bucks and send Nick into Matt in the corner with a monkey flip. Fenix took the tag and Nick got hung up on the ropes and then he hit a springboard move followed by a crusher on Matt for a two count.
Fenix chopped Matt’s chest off and then Penta took a tag to chop away too. Matt hit a flipping stunner on Penta after being able to finally come back, but Matt couldn’t get to Nick before Fenix took the tag and kicked him off the apron. Then Matt hit two suplexes followed by a sharpshooter and then Penta ran in only to get flipped by Matt. That was impressive.
Nick finally got the tag and he took out Pentagon Jr with a kick from the apron followed by a springboard facebuster on Fenix while he yelled “suck it!” Nick followed that up with a running bulldog/ lariat combo move on both Penta and Fenix.
The Young Bucks hit stereo springboard sunset flips followed by sharpshooters at the same time before The Lucha Bros got out. Then Nick tagged in Matt who hit a 450 Splash while Fenix was held suspended from the ropes by Nick.
The Bucks continued to work on Fenix and set him up on the top rope for a reverse stunner double team move off the top rope for another two count. Penta got in and started chopping away before The Bucks started laying in superkicks and then Matt and Fenix his each other with double lariats while the crowd went insane.
Matt and Penta went to the apron and traded kicks before taking each other out and then Penta hit Matt with a Canadian destroyer on the apron followed by one in the ring from Fenix to Nick for a two count. “This is awesome” chants were loud.
The Bucks went outside and Fenix nailed them with a dive where he stood on Penta’s shoulders. Then Penta picked up both Bucks and hit a Penta Driver followed by a dive on Nick Jackson from Fenix for the two count.
They continued until Matt hit a brainbuster on the top turnbuckle on Penta followed by a moonsault combo for a two count. The Bucks hit a double team package piledriver followed by a dive to Fenix from Nick while Matt pinned Penta for another two count.
Fenix stopped Matt and then Penta snapped his arm before hitting a bomb for a two count. Nick was up the ramp and taken out of the match thanks to Fenix as he took a tag to continue working on Matt. Fenix kicked him in the shoulder, but Matt caught him just in time for Nick to jump in to nail the Meltzer Driver for the win.
Winners: The Young Bucks
Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega
These two started off strong and Jericho was mean. Kenny came back with a splash, but that didn’t do anything to close out the match.
Jericho started chopping Omega and then he hit a dropkick off the second turnbuckle for a two count. He kept hammering away at Omega as he drew Y2J started to draw blood with the chops to Omega’s chest.
Jericho turned Omega inside out with a clothesline for a two count and then Y2J gave the crowd the finger and got them heated as he taunted them.
Kenny Omega’s nose got busted and Jericho kept hammering at him to make him bleed even more. This was bleeding the hard way unlike Dustin Rhodes who probably bladed himself which is why he bled like a stuck pig.
Jericho grabbed a table and Omega hit a Rise Of The Terminator dive on the table as it came down on Jericho’s left arm. Then Omega left the table on Jericho and took a dive on him and the table.
The crowd chanted “holy sh*t.” Kenny set up the table. They returned to the ring and Omega hit a facebuster for a two count.
Omega hit a V Trigger to the back of Jericho’s head and then he sat Y2J on the top rope. Y2J blocked whatever Omega was trying to do, but Kenny eventually landed a superplex.
Jericho blocked a V Trigger and Jericho hit a lionsault only to get hit by a V Trigger and then Y2J reversed out of a One Winged Angel and then Jericho hit two lionsaults on Omega’s head. All of this took place in about 30 seconds.
The continued with one reversal after another and then Jericho hit a back body drop to Omega all the way to the floor through the table that was still waiting. “This is awesome” chants started.
They continued hammering at each other as Omega remained on the apron. Then Jericho nailed a springboard dropkick, but it didn’t sent Omega to the floor, only crashing to the apron as he flipped over and landed on his neck.
Jericho Got on top and brought Omega up with him to the very top, but Kenny pushed Jericho down and jumped down into a Codebreaker for a close near fall.
They continued with one near fall after another for a few more rounds when Jericho kicked out of a tiger driver and then Jericho blocked a V Trigger as he transitioned it int a Walls Of Jericho.
The traded some more heavy shots and then Omega nailed a V Trigger to knock Jericho down hard. Omega got Y2J up for a One Winged Angle, but it was reversed.
Jericho returned a punch with an enzuguri and then Omega caught Jericho off of a springboard and almost had a One Winged Angle, but Jericho reversed again and hit a Codebreaker before hitting a Judas Effect for the win.
Winner: Chris Jericho
Jericho took the microphone after the match was over and started cutting a promo to the crowd who wanted to boo him. He didn’t give a rat’s ass and said “lighten up marks.”
Jericho said “bottom line is this I just got the crap kicked out of me, but I’m smart enough to know it’s my time now.” Then Jericho said AEW is a company for him and not the fans.
Then he kept going as Jon Moxley showed up and all hell broke loose. He hit a Dirty Deeds on Jericho before brawling with Kenny Omega out of the ring and then up the set. Moxley hit a Dirty Deeds on the top of the big poker chips on the stage before tossed Omega off through some lower staging set up to take hit fall.
This was a big way to make sure that people knew about AEW.
