Jeff Hardy is currently injured and unable to work right now. We previously reported that The Wrestling Observer Newsletter said that Hardy is slated for surgery next week although the nature of the procedure is currently unknown.

Dave Meltzer clarified this on Wrestling Observer Radio where he said that there are actually two different versions of the events surrounding Jeff Hardy’s current injury status.

One story says that he is injured and scheduled for surgery while the other says that Hardy is just “banged up.” Either way, WWE will still need to figure out what to do with the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

“I’ve heard two different stories, but essentially they have to figure out what they’re gonna do with the tag team championship.”

The Hardy Boyz are the current Tag Team Champions on the blue brand, but with Jeff Hardy’s injury situation they most likely won’t be able to defend those titles. Therefore, the company needs to figure out something to declare new champions.

This is an unfortunate situation as The Hardy Boyz had just returned as a unit and haven’t had a chance to even stretch their legs in a rivalry as champions yet. Hopefully, WWE will be able to come up with a solution that will make everyone happy, but that’s not likely either given their track record.
