There is a lot of ground to cover before WWE Fastlane and this is the go-home SmackDown Live before the event. Daniel Bryan will need to address Kevin Owens after KO’s unexpected return last week where he replaced Kofi Kingston in the WWE Title match.

We also have to wonder if Kofi Kingston or his New Day brothers will have anything to say about what went down last week too.

R-Truth is planning another US Open Challenge. Fans got a pretty good match last week when both Rey Mysterio and Andrade came to the ring and a triple threat match ensued.

We could also be getting a surprising addition to WWE Fastlane in the form of another returning Superstar.

Asuka is still set to face Mandy Rose in Cleveland at Fastlane and you have to wonder if the SmackDown Women’s Champion has anything to say about almost being injured last night. To be fair, that was not Mandy Rose’s fault because Asuka tucked her neck when she shouldn’t have.

Speaking of Cleveland Ohio, their hometown son The Miz will get a chance to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles once again with Shane McMahon as they face The Usos at Fastlane. Perhaps we will be seeing some progress in that storyline.

Opening Segment

Daniel Bryan and Rowan came out to open the show. Then they played a promo package showing Kofi Kingston getting screwed over last week.

The crowd was booing the booking change and Daniel Bryan talked about how he remained silent while everyone gushed about Kofi Kingston and he didn’t say a word when McMahon replaced Kofi. The crowd was chanting “Kofi” in a big way.

Bryan said he’s not out there to talk about Kofi, because Kofi is a “supporting player” then he said Kofi is where he needs to be…. with the New Day on a promotional tour of India.

Bryan said that Kevin Owens is just like the people in the crowd. He’s fat like everyone else. He said that he has everything to lose and he is the Planet’s Champion.

Then KO came out. Owens said he became a member of the WWE Universe again over his recovery because he’s been able to watch every week from his couch at home.

Owens said when Daniel Bryan was on screen it wasn’t hard, it was awful. He said he can’t stand people who think they’re better than everyone else. KO said Bryan throwing the WWE Title in the trash was the last straw. He said that Bryan deserves to have his stupid condescending mouth shut and he’s the one who’s going to do it.

Bryan threw a dig about Kevin eating and KO said that Daniel Bryan is resorting to low-brow fat jokes. They had a little back and forth about low-brow humor. Then Kevin Owens said “yep” he’s just like these people because he also thinks he’s a pretenious jackass.

Owens said he doesn’t have a reality tv show or a 7-footer playing backup dancer like Bryan either. He said that it wasn’t his intention to take Kofi’s opportunity, but he will win the WWE Title at Fastlane. Owens asked Rowan if he had a problem while calling him “redwood” and then he started punching Rowan to send him out of the ring. Then Rowan came back and laid Owens out.

Jey Uso vs The Miz

Down since Day One Ish — The Usos came out first and they were hyped. If Miz’s dad is allowed to be at ringside at WWE Fastlane, then Rikishi deserves a seat too, just saying.

The Usos cut a hilarious promo on McMiz including Jimmy doing an impression of The Miz. Jimmy made fun of Shane McMahon jumping off of things including the WrestleMania sign. WWE writers are now borrowing from memes.

Shane came out and said that all the things that The Usos just made fun of them about is what makes them the best tag team in the world. Then The Miz said he will make his dad proud at Fastlane.

Jey and Miz got to action pretty quickly and were going hard to prove a point before Fastlane. Jey ended up taking control in the ring with some kicks, but Miz got out of a Samoan drop attempt and landed some running double knees in the corner. Jey countered a clothesline into a backslide for a two count. Then The Miz nailed a DDT for another near fall.

Jey hit a running hip attack in the corner and climbed up top. The Miz got up his legs, but Jey turned it into a pinning attempt. Jimmy got involved then Shane fought him off.

The Miz hit a Skull Crushing Finale off the distraction and got the win.

Winner: The Miz

Charlotte Flair was there and she cut an interview backstage. She said the blue brand misses seeing Becky Lynch hobbling around on a crutch so she’s inviting there tonight.

R-Truth US Open Challenge 

Truth cut a little promo about wanting to be like his childhood hero John Cena. He said he did it once and he’s already tired. Then Carmella reminded Truth that Cena said never give up. Truth said Cena also said you can’t see me. Then he talked about all the places he sees Cena like his bedsheets.

They had a dance break and then Lacey Evans walked out to make an appearance. They announced her to the crowd as “the sexy Southern bell.” Truth yelled “come back Miss Sexy Gloves!” after she left.

Then Mella got the crowd to cheer before Samoa Joe walked out followed by Rey Mysterio and Andrade… so a fatal fourway match was started.

Joe was a beast as expected. He punished anyone he was close to and even Zelina Vega ran for cover when he followed Andrade out of the ring to chop away at him.

Andrade ended up on the floor and Joe hit him with a diving forearm strike that sent Andrade bouncing off of the announce table. It was Joe’s match at this point.

Joe sent Rey into the ring post and kicked Andrade in the head. R-Truth was still resting after a bump outside and dropkicked Joe to take him down on the outside.

Joe was finally taken out and sent tot he floor with some effort and Andrade got racked on the top rope by Mysterio. They battled on top and Rey jumped to the apron then Andrade went for a suplex and R-Truth got a roll up for a two count as Mysterio hit a cross body on Joe.

Truth splashed everyone, but Joe sent him down with a one-armed slam. Andrade hit a dropkick to Joe and then he sent Mysterio down before pulling off a flipping dive into another flip for a splash on Mysterio.

Then R-Truth started hitting strikes on Joe and a spinbuster. He hit a 5 knuckle shuffle on everyone in a pile and Joe kicked out at two. Then Joe latched in a Coquina Clutch until Mysterio hit a 6-1-9 and Truth tried for a roll-up again, but it failed.

Everyone ended up outside and Andrade hit a powebomb from the apron on Mysterio. Zelina hit a hurricanrana on Truth followed by Vega getting taken out by a kick from Carmella.

Mysterio and Andrade kept fighting in the ring and Rey hit the 6-1-9 before Samoa Joe won the US Title.

Winner: Samoa Joe

After his win, he cut a promo on R-Truth, but he took a special moment to throw a dig at John Cena. Gotta ask about that one.

CAleister Black & Ricochet vs The Bar

Sheamus and Ricochet started out the match and The One And Only got a couple of moves off before a kickout from Sheamus and then the Celtic Warrior soon kneed Ricochet off of the apron to take control.

Cesaro took the tag after Sheamus abused Ricochet a bit more and he continued the onslaught. The Ricochet hit a DDT before finally getting to Aleister Black. They’re trying out new nicknames for Aleister Black.

Black nailed a running knee strike for a two count when Cesaro broke it up. Cesaro and Black continued and eventually Cesaro ate a Black Mass and then Ricochet nailed a 630 for the win.

Winners: Aleister Black and Ricochet

Suddenly, Nakamura and Rusev jumped Black and Ricochet from behind and started beating them down. Then the Hardy Boyz ran down for the save. After Jeff hit a dive so did Ricochet. They played Ricochet’s music to conclude the segment as the four babyfaces stood in the ring.

Daniel Bryan and Rowan were shown discussing strategy last night. It was all Bryan talking very fast.

Mandy Rose vs Naomi

Rose defeated Naomi in an incredibly short match. So much for Naomi ever getting that win.

Winner: Mandy Rose

As Mandy and Sonya were leaving, Asuka jumped them and destroyed Fire & Desire.

AJ Styles cut a promo backstage and then Randy Orton walked up and dissed him saying “I can see why it took you 15 years to get here”… burn from The Viper.

Kevin Owens vs Rowan

This match did not go long until Daniel Bryan got involved after KO attacked him. Then Rowan started beating Kevin down too until Mustafa Ali returned for the save.

The babyfaces ran off Daniel Bryan and Rowan after KO his a Stunner on the WWE Champion.

Charlotte Flair Invites Becky Lynch For A Little Chat

Flair came to the ring and said, “I’ve got something for you” before playing a video of Ronda Rousey destroying Becky Lynch on RAW.

Charlotte got the crowd to chant for Becky before she came out. Lynch was still walking with the assistance of a crutch. Lynch said it’s good to be back.

The Man said she’d be lying if she said her body doesn’t hurt a little bit. Then she said it’s the price to pay to stay inside her head. Because she knows that she’s in Ronda’s head too.

The Man said she’s still fighting and ready to go again after taking Rousey’s best on RAW and she’s been beating Charlotte for months. Becky said that damaged people are the most dangerous because they have nothing else to lose.

Suddenly, Charlotte Flair attacked Becky Lynch and focused on her knee during the assault. Flair grabbed the crutch and hit Lynch in the knee before Lynch grabbed it and got some whacks in and latched on a Dis Arm Hero.

Suddenly, the ring was full of referees pulling Becky Lynch off of Flair. The show ended with the crowd chanting for Becky while Charlotte Flair walked away holding her arm with a smile on her face.
