Tommaso Ciampa is out of action with a neck injury that has been a lingering situation for the past five weeks if not longer. There is a reason why Ciampa did not compete this week on WWE television and the company had to make some big changes to this week’s tag team match because he was out of commission.
As PW Insider reports, Ciampa’s neck problem caused WWE to nix a supposed fatal four-way tag team match. This would have included The Revival vs Team DIY vs Ricochet & Aleister Black vs Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins.
It doesn’t stop there because depending on how serious Tommaso Ciampa’s neck injury is, they might have to change up some bigger plans for the NXT Title. Ciampa was supposedly set to defend Goldy at NXT TakeOver: New York against Johnny Gargano and he is also competing in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Much of the tournament was already filmed, but it will still be interesting to see how WWE deals with this on television.
At this time WWE reportedly has a mindset that “all options are on the table” when it comes to how they will remedy this situation creatively. As of this Monday, Tommaso Ciampa was not cleared to compete. Hopefully, that changes.
