WWE commentator and former wrestler David Otunga has revealed that his commentary once legitimately announced a fellow superstar.
Otunga has been outside of the WWE bubble for a while now, only really returning for kick off shows before pay per views. He has been focusing his attention on raising his family as well as transitioning over into the world of movies, which has always been an obvious passion for him.
However, one time it seems as if he took things too far (in the eyes of this superstar), which led to a little bit of tension behind the scenes.
“Kevin Owens got real mad at me one time. I was trying to make some kind of witty comment and I said ‘Battle of the Bulge’, and I said ‘we aren’t talking about Kevin Owens’ stomach’ or something like that. I think it was pretty tame. Owens was mad and coming at me on Twitter, and Kevin Owens is actually one of my favourite characters. He’s different. Yeah, his stomach hangs over, but I think that’s awesome. So I had to say ‘hey man, we’re on the same team, this is what we do’. He was shoot mad. I think we’re cool now, I hope!”David Otunga talking about his heat with Kevin Owens
Owens has always been a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, and perhaps the reason he got so mad is because he and Otunga aren’t all that close behind the scenes. After all, Corey Graves has been making similar remarks for quite some time now, and Kevin doesn’t seem to mind.
Thankfully the two appear to have buried the hatchet, but it’s interesting to note that some guys and girls behind the scenes get sensitive about this – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
