Batista made his return to WWE RAW this week, but he had to find the time to make it happen. He is currently busy with some promising film project and he is taking his acting career very seriously by only accepting parts that he wants to do.
While recently speaking to The Tampa Bay Times, Batista explained the differences between himself and other wrestlers turned movie stars. It is said that he hates being compared to The Rock and John Cena and he has a very good reason for this.
“Do not compare me to The Rock or John Cena. Everyone does it.”
“Rock was, in a way, a movie star before he was even a movie star. There is something about him that’s really special. I’d never take that away from him […] Would I consider him a great actor? F*ck no.”
“I want good roles. I don’t care about Fast and Furious or Bumblebee. … That’s not the kind of stardom I want. … I want to be in Dune. I want to work with Denis Villeneuve. I want to work with Sam Mendes and Jodie Foster. I want to work with Academy Award winners. I’m proud to be a character actor. I want that respect and credibility and education.”
Batista wants credibility over commercial gain. After all, he already made a very good chunk of cash in his WWE career and will likely be getting royalty checks for the rest of his life for the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies that he starred in. Even if the MCU finds a new actor to play Drax The Destroyer, Batista will be just fine. Just don’t compare him to The Rock or John Cena.
