Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of Monday Night Raw for February 25th!

Tonight’s Raw is notable for a few reasons, not the least of which is the return of Roman Reigns! It’s been four months since Reigns vacated the Universal Championship due to a real-life battle with leukaemia but The Big Dog is back on the show tonight for an update on his journey. Obviously, we’re hoping it’s great news for Reigns and his family, and he can announce the cancer is gone, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The other noteworthy aspect of tonight’s show is a celebration of Ric Flair. You see, tonight marks the 70th birthday of the nature boy! That, of course, means we’re going to party. Who knows what this party will entail but we can expect to see some familiar faces, like Triple H and Shawn Michaels, and presumably Charlotte. Should be a fun segment for Naitch.

As for the active roster, tonight’s show is teasing more from all of the recent NXT call-ups, and hopefully they get a much better reception in Georgia, than they did in Louisiana. Also being teased is further weirdness from Dean Ambrose. Last week, Ambrose was swiftly beaten by Drew McIntyre, then met Seth Rollins backstage and talked to him as though he’d forgotten the last few months of feuding. Well, more of that to come apparently.

That’s the preview for tonight’s show, which could be quite a jubilant one. Remember to download the Ringside News app, follow us on Instagram, and enjoy the show!

Monday Night Raw

Raw opens with a look back at October 22, 2018, when Roman Reigns told the world that he had leukaemia.

We go live to the arena in Atlanta and out comes Roman Reigns. The Big Dog receives a huge pop. He looks a little overwhelmed but excited as he makes his way to the ring. The crowd chant “Roman”, and the former Universal Champion makes a point of touching every hand of every person along the barricade and around ringside.

Reigns soaks in the crowd for several minutes, and they chant “welcome back”. Reigns starts off by saying “thank you.” He then says he misses the crowd, that there is no fanbase like the WWE Universe. He says he used to say “this is my yard”, but the truth is, this is our yard. He says he’s always been a man of faith, but before his announcement in October he was terrified. He says he didn’t know if he wanted to share his secret with the world. He didn’t know how the fans would react but by the time he got home the outreach was overwhelming. Whether fans loved or hated him, it felt like everyone was at his back and prayed for him. That support gave him new life, new strength, and new purpose. He says he wants to use this platform to raise awareness of those in need, just like he was.

Roman says this has been advertised as an update, so let’s get to the update. He says he didn’t just swing for the fences, he hit a homerun. He says he is incredibly grateful and humbled to announce that he is in remission! Roman says “the Big Dog is back!” Then he thanks the fans again and says he loves them.

As Reigns is leaving the arena, his good brother Seth Rollins comes out! Rollins and Reigns hug on the ramp. The two share a moment.

Still to come tonight, Ric Flair’s birthday celebration, and Ronda Rousey and Natalya Vs. The Riott Squad.

Aleister Black makes his entrance for some tag team action, followed by another NXT compatriot.

Aleister Black & Ricochet Vs. The Revival

Before the bell can ring, Dash and Dawson attack Black and Ricochet from behind. They knock Ricochet from the ring and beat Black down. They whip Black into the ropes, then he vaults over them both. Ricochet comes off the ropes with a springboard, taking out both the tag Champs. Ricochet hits a neckbreaker to Dash and dropkicks Dawson, both roll out of the ring. Black feigns a dive but springboards back into the middle of the ring, then Ricochet hits a suicide dive to Dash. Black then hits a tope to Dawson as we head to the break. The bell has not rung.

We’re back and Wilder has Ricochet grounded with an armlock. Ricochet attempts to tag his partner and does so by leaping over Wilder. Black uses his strikes to take Wilder down. He then kicks Dawson in the head before landing a perfect springboard moonsault for a near-fall.

Dawson tags in and the Champions double-team Black but seemingly mess-up the move. Dawson plants Black with a big DDT for a near-fall. The Top Guys looks for another double-team move but Ricochet pushes Wilder of the apron to stop it. Ricochet then hits a moonsault off of the ring post. Dawson looks to roll-up Black but gets caught with Black Mass and that’s it!

Winners: Ricochet & Aleister Black

Well the Raw Tag Team Champions have lost two weeks in a row to NXT call-ups. Surely there’s a better way to get the new guys over with Raw audiences.

Charly Caruso is backstage and she interviews Baron Corbin. She asks Corbin if he’s concerned considering he poked fun at Reigns’ battle with leukaemia. Corbin denies ever saying it, then says the stress of being a GM and competitor were beyond comprehension. Charly then asks if he thinks his job was harder than Roman’s fight with leukaemia, to which Corbin says he just hopes they don’t cross paths again, for Roman’s sake. What a disgusting segment.

We’re back live and we see some Tweets about Ric Flair’s birthday, as well as a video from Snoop Dogg congratulating Naitch.

Elias is in the ring but he’s interrupted by Lacey Evans before he can even speak. As per usual, Evans walks down the ramp then stops and leaves again. Elias begins to play the guitar but again he’s interrupted, this time by Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose says all the celebrating tonight has him in a festive mood. He’s in a nostalgic mood, positivity is flowing through him. So much so, that he wants a rematch with Drew McIntyre from last week. However this week he wants a no disqualification match. Ambrose gets into the ring and Elias begins playing guitar over him. Ambrose asks if this is the Academy Awards, because it feels like he’s being played off the stage. Elias says it’s not, because if it were he would be on his second encore by now. Elias says he was about to play a song about how much he loves Atlanta, a city that can host a Superbowl but can’t win one. Ambrose says he loves Elias, so he came out here to request a song. He asks if Elias knows any Yankee Doodle? Thunderstruck? Maybe Dirty Deeds? Elias swings his guitar but Ambrose ducks, then hits him with Dirty Deeds.

Later tonight, Ambrose will face McIntyre in a no DQ match. The Riott Squad come down to the ring for a match against Ronda Rousey and Natalya.
