Ronda Rousey walked out of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view with her RAW Women’s Title still in tow. Then she defended her title against Ruby Riott again the next night on RAW. However, that was not the plan at all.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Alexa Bliss was actually supposed to be squashed by Ronda Rousey on RAW. However, WWE needed to change up so many things because of Seth Rollins’ injury.
Due to the fact that they were still re-writing the show into the second hour of the program, the decision was eventually made to let Ruby Riott have a longer match against Rousey.
“Ronda was supposed to wrestle Alexa Bliss in another quick squash like the match at Elimination Chamber.”
“They needed more time out of the Rousey match so the feeling was that Rousey vs Bliss
would’tbe good, but Rousey and Riott were comfortable working together so that match was a Ronda Rousey match that wasn’t planned at all. They didn’t even know until the day, it was supposed to be Bliss. So that was changed.”
You never know if Ronda Rousey vs Alexa Bliss could happen again in WWE. It didn’t seem to work out this week for obvious reasons.
