Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of Elimination Chamber 2019.
Ladies and gentlemen this is the final stop on the Road to WrestleMania! While Brock Lesnar is competing tonight, the WWE Champion Daniel Bryan is. Therefore that is the marquee match tonight. Bryan will defend his Championship inside the Chamber against AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, and Kofi Kingston. Can the New Daniel Bryan retain? Or will someone displace him ahead of WrestleMania?
Speaking of which, can Ruby Riott dethrone Ronda Rousey before her massive triple threat at ‘Mania? Well, frankly, no way Jose. Not a chance in hell. This match is 100% a formality, which is not an insult to Ruby. That said, it could be a fun match regardless.
Elsewhere tonight, we have the women’s tag team Elimination Chamber to determine the first ever women’s tag champs, The Miz & Shane McMahon taking on The Uso’s, Bobby Lashley & Lio Rush Vs. Finn Balor in a handicap match, and lots more.
Elimination Chamber 2019 is a pretty stacked card and it all begins at 6PM EST with the Kick-Off Show! Remember to download the Ringside News app, follow us on Instagram, and enjoy the show!
We start things off with the panel of Booker T, Sam Roberts, and Beth Phoenix, led by Coach. They run down the entire card.

We see a promo from Mustafa Ali from earlier today, in which he laments not being able to partake in the Chamber match tonight. He says he will bounce back. The panel bring up Kofi Kingston replacing Ali, and how Kofi took the opportunity to shine. Coach says this is Kofi’s chance to break away from The New Day for a night, and show how good he is. They start talking about how wily Daniel Bryan has been as of late, with Booker saying Bryan has been scheming his win tonight for weeks. They discuss Randy Orton entering the Chamber last, and how that greatly benefits the Viper. Booker says you have to have a strategy, which is why he never won!
We see a replay from last Monday’s Raw, in which Vince McMahon suspended Becky Lynch and replaced her with Charlotte Flair in the ‘Mania main event. Next they show when Lynch showed-up at a house show last night and got beaten by Charlotte.
The Riott Squad are backstage and talk about how great a team they are. They show their matching tattoos and say tonight is the night everything comes full circle, because they all walk out tonight with gold. Charlotte Flair walks up to them and says she remembers their debut, because she was on the wrong end of them. She tells Ruby to take her aggression out on Ronda tonight. She won her first Women’s title here in Houston, and she asks Ruby to do the same, so that they can face-off at WrestleMania. Back with the panel, Coach asks if Charlotte doesn’t want to face Rousey, and Booker says “duh”. They discuss the Championship match and say Ruby doesn’t stand much chance.
They start to discuss Finn Balor Vs. Bobby Lashley, and Sam Roberts says Finn is a loser unless he’s wearing paint. He says he doesn’t understand why Finn doesn’t wear the paint all the time, considering he can only win while wearing it. Booker thinks he’s crazy.
Moving on, it’s time to discuss the Women’s Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber Match. Beth Phoenix talks up the historical significance of this match and this moment. She says it’s hard to prepare for a match like this because there are so many factors you have to consider. Sam Roberts says Sasha Banks isn’t 100% tonight, so Bayley has to step-up and be The Boss. Booker says adrenaline counts for a lot, and when the chance to make history is on the line, Sasha and Bayley can definitely overcome.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
(C) Buddy Murphy Vs. Akira Tozawa
The bell rings and they lock-up, but Murphy grabs the wrist and forces Tozawa to the mat. Tozawa flips to reverse the pressure, but then Murphy does the same. Tozawa escapes and chops the chest of Murphy, then again, but Murphy shrugged them off. Murphy knocks Tozawa out of the ring and chase after him. Murphy looked to chop Tozawa but caught the ring post instead!
Back inside, Murphy catches Tozawa with a flapjack and his hand is hurting. Tozawa hits him with a hurricanrana that sends him out of the ring. Tozawa follows-up with a suicide dive but Murphy caught him in mid-air and hit a suplex! Both men get back into the ring but then we cut to an interview with Kayla Braxton and Big E and Xavier Woods.

Back with the match and Murphy has Tozawa grounded with a rear chin lock. Murphy switches to a pump handle stretch. Tozawa escapes and hits a missile dropkick from the top rope. He follows-up with a big kick in the corner, then connects with a snap German suplex and a shining wizard for a near-fall.
Tozawa goes to the top rope for his big senton but Murphy dodges, kicks him, and goes up top. Tozawa meets Murphy up top but Murphy lifted him into the air, then looked for a powerbomb but Tozawa reversed into a hurricanrana and both men are down. Tozawa looks for a crossbody but Murphy caught him and hit a fireman’s carry into a knee, followed by a suplex for a two count.
Murphy talks trash to Akira, and kicks his head repeatedly, but that just fires him up! They exchange strikes until Tozawa hits a big clothesline, followed by a deadlift German suplex for another near-fall. Tozawa goes up top again, looking for the senton but Murphy grabs his leg. Tozawa kicks him away, then hits a reverse hurricanrana! Tozawa connects with two suicide dives before getting Murphy back inside. He hits the big senton to the back of Murphy but the Champion kicks out!
Tozawa kicks Murphy and hits the ropes but Buddy connects with a huge leaping knee. Tozawa catches him with a an octopus submission but Murphy escaped and hit Murphy’s Law for the win!
Winner: Buddy Murphy

We get a promo from Kevin Owens, sitting in his car eating pizza. Owens says he’s excited to watch the Chamber PPV tonight, but it’s bittersweet because he’d love to compete in one. However, he’s only about a month away from getting back in there. He’s excited to see Finn Balor win tonight, as well as The Riott Squad walk out with all the belts. And it’s going to be hard to explain to his kids why Becky Lynch isn’t competing tonight. But hey, his kids love pineapple on their pizza, so who knows what they’re thinking. He then eats the pizza before spitting it out. Very babyface stuff from Owens.
We cut to the stage live in Houston and Charly Caruso introduces Hall of Famer, Mark Henry. She asks what it is that makes the Chamber unique. He says he’s happy to be back in Texas, and tells everyone to give it up for the Cruiserweight match that just happened. He then says that everyone who competes in the Chamber, comes out different. Charly asks who will win the women’s tag titles, and he says the Ilconics. The fans boo and he tells them to calm down, that he isn’t used to getting booed anymore. She then asks who will win the men’s Chamber, and Henry says that Kofi made him a believer last week on SmackDown Live and the fans cheer loud. He finishes by saying if he were competing, he’d introduce them all to the Hall of Pain!
We cut back to the panel for a minute and they discuss their picks for the Chamber matches. That’s it for the kick-off show, on to the main card!
