WWE Champion Daniel Bryan has been on quite the journey over the course of the last few years, and the man himself recognises that.

On the day that Bryan retired, it was considered by many to be one of the most depressing moments (from a wrestling fan’s perspective) of the modern era. At his peak Bryan was easily the most popular guy on the card, but due to his injuries, it seemed like there was a good chance we’d never see him inside the squared circle again.

Now, though, three years on, he’s been through quite the transformation – and in two days time, he’ll be celebrating quite the milestone both personally and professionally.

Three years is a long time in professional wrestling, but for the former leader of the Yes Movement, it must’ve truly felt like an eternity. We’re talking about a guy who is considered to be one of the best workers of his generation, and now, we get to see him compete once again on a week to week basis.

His big WWE Championship win over AJ Styles marked a huge turning point in his current run, as many fans felt the heel turn was a necessity. Since then, he’s proven himself to be one of the most effective bad guys in recent memory.

The next three years could well see Bryan head back into retirement as a precaution following his injuries, but even if that’s the case, we should still consider ourselves very lucky that we got the chance to witness his return.
