Edge and Christian mention that today’s show will be a Q&A episode.

Before answering some fan questions, Edge and Christian talk about the development of AEW. Edge says he loves the vision of Cody and The Young Bucks, and he loves that they’re shooting for the stars, even if that wasn’t their goal initially. They’ve secured financing and saw an opportunity, and they’re going for it now.

Edge also points out that it was cool to see Chris Jericho show up to the rally and announce his signing with AEW. Edge notes that Jericho does not need the money and it’s clear he’s doing this to truly try to help this promotion. Edge thinks that’s very cool.

He continues by saying that a monopoly is never good in any business, so anytime a company rises up like this to challenge the status quo it’s a good thing.

A listener writes into the show and asks Edge how hard it was to keep a straight face when Shawn Michaels’ pants got stuck in the stage grating during his entrance to their match on RAW many years ago.

Edge admits that it was hard not to laugh when Michaels got stuck, but he knew WWE’s production crew would be cutting to him so he had to keep a straight face. It was supposed to be a serious match and he couldn’t let himself crack up in the ring.

A listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian if Zack Ryder would choose his girlfriend, Chelsea Green, or his action figures if he could only have one. Christian laughs and says Ryder would choose his action figures for sure.

Another listener writes into the show and asks the guys to name one bump that is more painful than it looks. Edge says a Powerslam is a great example of this, and it all depends on who’s delivering the move. Christian says Monkey Flips are very similar in that nature.

Next, Edge and Christian are asked to name their favourite match stipulation. Christian says he always wanted to be involved in an Iron Man Match, but unfortunately he was never able to be a part of one. Edge agrees, noting he’s never been involved in an Iron Man Match either.

A listener writes into the show and asks them if there are any matches they thought was one of their best, but doesn’t get the recognition that some of their other matches get. Christian says he and Edge had a cage match shortly after they split up that was really good, but it doesn’t get mentioned much. Edge recalls that match as well, and thinks it took place on one of WWE’s old Rebellion PPVs.

Another listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian if Jeff Hardy was actually supposed to exit the cage as early as he did during their match at Unforgiven 2000. Christian says that was supposed to happen, because the stipulation in that match was that both tag team members had to exit the cage to win. Jeff exiting that early allowed Edge and Christian to team up on Matt for a while and tell the story they wanted.

A listener asks which wrestling promotion will be at the top of the food chain in 10 years. Edge says it will still be WWE, even if something happens to Vince McMahon in that time frame. He doesn’t think that much can change in 10 years, but that doesn’t mean other promotions can’t be viable and have success during that period as well.

Another listener writes into the show and asks the guys which Titles they think are the best aesthetically. Christian says he loved the WWE World Title that Hulk Hogan held, the one prior to the “Winged Eagle” Title. Edge says he loves the classic white-strap Intercontinental Title, and Christian agrees.

Edge and Christian talk about whether there will be a Season 3 of the Edge and Christian Show on the WWE Network. Edge points out that they had a lot of fun filming Season 2, but he has no idea when a Season 3 might occur. There was a year and a half between Seasons 1 and 2 because of their busy schedules, so we’ll have to wait and see when and if Season 3 happens.

A listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian to name their favourite WCW Cruiserweight. Edge says Rey Mysterio sticks out in his mind because he’s a special talent. Even today at over 40 years old Mysterio is tearing it up.

Another listener writes into the show and asks them if there were any talents that they would have liked to work with had they signed with WWE. Edge says he would have liked to work with Bret Hart, who had already moved to WCW by the time Edge arrived in WWE.

Edge also would have liked to work with Samoa Joe and Nakamura. Christian says he would have loved to work with Kenny Omega, who started tearing it up in Japan just as Christian was winding down his career in North America.

That sums up this week’s episode of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
