John Cena’s return to SmackDown Live included an unexpected confrontation from Becky Lynch. Then the two of them were able to tag with each other to take on Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega.
After SmackDown Live was over, John Cena was interviewed backstage about his New Year’s Day tag team partner. He had nothing but great things to say about Lynch. For that matter, The Man really seemed to enjoy having Cena on the show too.
“She believes she’s The Man. Especially being in there with her tonight, it’s not a character. It is Becky Lynch and that is something I can relate to. When I stand tall in a WWE ring people know they get the best of me.”

“You gotta announce your presence with authority. That’s not the way I do things sometimes, but that’s the way a young John Cena would have done it for sure. Cena said he knows what it is like to be overlooked and to be noticed makes you feel like Superman. He said it’s good to see someone step up and he was honored to be on The Man’s team.
He wouldn’t say that Lynch has Ruthless Aggression because that’s an out of date term, but Cena said “it’s yours to lose” to her in the ring. The lightning is in the bottle and hopefully, she’ll be able to harness more of the amazing momentum she attained in 2018.
