Former SmackDown Women’s Champion and Mixed Match Challenge winner Carmella has had numerous ups and downs all year, and as 2018 comes to a close, the SmackDown Live Superstar has spoken to Metro to reveal how RAW Superstar Kurt Angle inspired her to be able to do what she has done this year.
According to Carmella, the speech Angle gave at the Hall of Fame back in 2017 spoke to her. During his speech, Angle mentioned that Superstars should not be afraid to make a fool of themselves and to never take themselves too seriously. She took that advice, and it has led to some amazing and memorable moments for herself and the fans.

“Something I took away from Kurt Angle’s Hall of Fame speech was never be afraid to make a fool of yourself and don’t take yourself too seriously. I really let that sink in and ran with it. In my career I’ve had several different paths and character turns.
“I was a manager in NXT, then I was the last draft pick and then with James Ellsworth as a champion. I feel it’s important to show different sides of my character and I never take myself too seriously. I’ll never be like ‘oh that’s too silly for me’ or ‘Carmella’s too cool for that’. Any opportunity I get I want to make the most of it and I’m not afraid to look like an idiot.”

You can find just one example of the change in Carmella’s character in the video below, which shows Carmella dancing in the middle of the traditional women’s Survivor Series match after eliminating Tamina.

With her victory alongside Fabulous Truth partner R-Truth at TLC, Carmella has officially been recognized as the 30th participant in the women’s Royal Rumble next year. Win or lose, Carmella is certainly poised to have an incredible 2019.
Do you agree with Angle’s advice? Can Carmella have a better 2019 than 2018? Let us know your thoughts, opinions, and reactions in those comments below.
